This page is dededicated to my grandaughter Porche; whom was born July 30,1987. Porche was born with mulitiple birth defects.; which I will list later on this page. Porche was born at 28 weeks and weighed in at 3lbs2ozs. She was placed in Neonato ICU.We were told daily she was not going to live. At 5 weeks of age she weighed 4lbs7ozs; we were told to take her home there was nothing more that they could do for her. That we should make her comfortable she will die within two weeks. Porche is now 12 years old. |

The first time I got to go to the hospital to see my Granddaughter, I knew at first sight she was an Angel. There was this aura about her. Porche has a smile that can take your saddness away. She has a joy and love for life that is contagious. |

Porche was born with a lot of health problems. All I ask is please don't get overwhelmed. Porche was born with Herpes Encephalities (infection of the brain) Micro-Encephalic (small brain) Legally Blind both eyes (can see shadows) Deaf right ear Congenital Herpes simplex 2 Cerebral Palsy with spastic extremities Seizures Apnea (stops breathing) Reflex (food will not stay down) Medical problems since birth Gastrostomy tube ( fed though tube in stomach) it's not painfull Fundoplication surgery ( helps stop Reflex) Severe Gastrities Chronic Lung Disease Tracheostomy Has had surgery on left hip twice The reason I told you all this is because if you or I even had one or two of these problems.; we would be wondering what is the reason to live. Porche sees it differently. She sees joy and happiness in everything. |

The picture to the left as far as I know is called the Guardian Angel. The reason I am telling you about this is because this Picture as very special meaning to me. when I was a little girl, I lived with my grandparents for a short time. The bedroom where I slept had a framed picture of the Guardian Angel just like this one. I never felt afraid because of this picture. A few years ago I found a counted cross stitch pattern of this same picture. I bought it and sat down a stitched for Porche's room. Now she has it on her bedroom wall. |

Porche's Great Grandmother was born with Cerebral Palsey. Back in the 1920's and even today Many doctors and case workers try to talk parents into puting their Cerebral Palsey Children into institutions; that it would be a burden on the family to care for the child themselves. Porche's Great Great Grandparents ignored this advice completely and to care of their child themselves. They taught Porche's Great grandmother to feel good about herself and to never give up. They let her try anything she wanted to try.; but to never feel bad if there was something she couldn't do. Porche's Great Grandfather fell in love and married my mother he didn't turn away because of the Cerebral Palsey. He is still caring for her today. 50 some years. He taught me that love is blind and taught me his strength. |

Fiftytwo years ago it was unthinkable for a woman with Cerebral palsy to even think about or even to give birth. Porche's Great Grandmother not only thought about it she did it . She gave birth to two children and with her husband's help raised us. Porche and I both would never have accomplished what we have with out the love and spirit of these people. To these very special people Porche and I send our love and thanks for all they have given us. |
